Chia Berry Smoothie

Happy Friday! I know it has been a short week this week, but I feel like it has been an extra long one…am I right? I’m certainly ready for the weekend! Today I’m sharing a great recipe that is super easy to make and is perfect for breakfast or an after-workout snack. It will definitely give you an energy boost if you find that you’re dragging a little {like me this week}.

This recipe is what I call ‘sneaky healthy’. The kind of thing that tastes good and doesn’t feel like you are eating something super healthy, but is still pretty good for you. Love these kinds of recipes! Chia seeds are a “Superfood”, which a fancy way of saying the pack a nutrient punch without a ton of calories. They are high in fiber and protein, full of omegas and antioxidants, and 17% of your daily calcium intake. It’s basically awesome; you can read more about chia seeds here. I love me a good berry smoothie, so I combined some chia seeds with a few of my favorite smoothie ingredients to make this delicious treat.

Chia Berry Smoothie

-1 cup berries, fresh or frozen {I used frozen mixed berries}

-1 cup almond milk

-1 tbsp. chia seeds {you can find these at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or any health food store}

-drizzle of honey

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Boom! Tip: I like to use frozen berries, that way you can make your smoothie frozen without have to water it down with ice cubes. Try it this weekend and let me know what you think!

Enjoy and have a great weekend!
