Holiday Spiced Sangria with Black Box Wine + Friendsgiving

sangria1Do you know how I get through the holidays? Wine. Lots and lots of wine. Just kidding…kinda. Seriously though, I think almost everyone can agree with me that drinking and the holidays go hand in hand. And I love some red wine (and so does my family!). I usually try to stock up on wine right before the holidays, because I know that I will be having guests over or hosting dinner parties. Let’s be real, you need wine on hand when it’s just you and you want to have a glass or two after a long day. That is where Black Box Wine comes in clutch. This wine isn’t what you used to drink in college (it’s ok, admit it). This is award winning varietals that even your wine snob friends will enjoy.

In addition to being delicious, Black Box wines are super portable and have eco-friendly packaging. Having this lightweight packaging is a lifesaver…no more taking a bottle of wine over to your friend’s house and worrying about that glass bottle rolling off your car seat and breaking. These Go Packs also use 65% less energy to make and have 53% less waste than glass. You can feel good about having that third glass of wine-cause hey, your helping the environment!

Black Box Wine is tasty on it’s own, but it’s also perfect for making a big batch of cocktails to serve at holiday gatherings. I love a good Cab, but I also LOVE to make Sangria. Maybe it was my study abroad to Spain in college, maybe it’s the basic girl in me. Today I’m sharing a great recipe for holiday spiced winter sangria, made with Black Box Cabernet Sauvignon. It has all those warm holiday spices in it, combined with the toasty oak and cherry flavors of the wine…it’s the perfect holiday drink!

Holiday Spiced Winter Sangria

-2 Go Packs Black Box Wine 500 ML Cabernet Sauvignon

-1 cup brandy or spiced rum (I like to use this rum)

-2 cups apple cider

-3 tea bags of Orange and Cinnamon Spice Tea (try this one or this one)

-1 apple + orange, cut into small chunks/slices

Start by heating up your apple cider until almost simmering. Steep your 3 tea bags in the hot apple cider for 10-15 min. Pour your wine into a large pitcher, then add the rum/brandy. After your teabags have steeped, remove those and pour the cooled apple cider and tea mixture into the wine. Stir to combine. Core and chop your apple, sliced your orange, and add this to your wine. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

We also wanted to share a few pictures from our Friendsgiving we had a few weeks ago. We met so many amazing bloggers and made a bunch of new friends. The best kind of women are the ones who support and encourage each other, and all of these amazing women are girl bosses who do just that. Our Friendsgiving was hosted by Erica of Eating with Erica. If you haven’t checked her out yet, she is talented food blogger who has an eye for food and fashion. She hosted us all at American Cut in Buckhead, and the food was to die for! If you live in the Atlanta area, you must have dinner here. Huge thanks to Double Cross Vodka, who sponsored our delicious dinner and as well as some yummy cocktails!

All of our wonderful photos from Friendsgiving were taken by the fabulously talented and sweet Jamie of Jamie King Creative. It was pretty dark in there and all these pictures turned out perfectly! Go check her out!

Hope everyone is gearing up for the holidays!

Bra Fitting Tips with Third Love

A key part of putting together any outfit is making sure the fit is right. Whether it be the right length of pants or the correct fit of a dress, it makes you look more well put together when everything fits. The foundation of your look starts with the right fitting undergarments-so you have to make sure your bra is fitting well and sized right too! We have all had those ‘bra-blems’: straps that slip, bulge from an ill-fitting band, of gapping in the cups that you can see through a shirt. If your bra fits properly it makes a huge difference in how your clothes fit over. And let’s be honest: I know that I feel and look my best when my bra fits well and I don’t have to think about it! We have a cute little guide with some tips to help you get the best fit possible, so that you can look your best! And our friends over at Third Love have even offered a discount for our readers to help get you started too! They have the cutest bras for all shapes and sizes, and they even come in half sizes too so you can make sure you get the best fit possible. We really like this pretty Lace Push Up and this fun Strappy T-Shirt Bra that you can wear with low side cut top. They even offer free shipping for orders over $75, and always free returns and exchanges.

3 Tips to Maximize your Wardrobe

Whether you live for shopping and all the latest trends, or you stick to your tried and true wardrobe, I can guarantee you have walked into your closet at some point and thought to yourself, “I have nothing to wear!”. Trust me, I do this all the time (much to the dismay of my husband who looks at me like I’m crazy). The key to looking great all the time and feeling confident is maximizing your wardrobe with what you already own. Cause let’s face it, we aren’t made of money, even though we wish we could go on endless shopping sprees. Today we are sharing our top three ways we try to maximize what’s in the closet currently, and ways to add key pieces in to make it go even further.

Switch it up

Bought a great pair of dress pants or pencil skirt for work? Think outside the box. You don’t just have to wear it during the day! Pair a pencil skirt with a sexy cami for cocktails with the girls, or take that blazer you invested in and wear it with cuffed jeans, booties, and a tee for a casual weekend look. One of the best ways to mix up an outfit is to pair it with different jewelry. A lot of times a statement necklace or earrings can make your look completely different. Shoes work similarly; have a bright pair of killer heels you never get to wear? Pair them with a neutral outfit to make them the star. Find some of our favorite statement pieces Here and Here.

Experiment with Color/Patterns

Do you have a couple pieces in your closet that you wear together all the time? Challenge yourself to take a pants and shirt combo you wear all the time and switch it up. Pair the top with a skirt or white jeans; pair your pants with a top you don’t normally wear all the time. No one says you can’t wear green with blush, or turquoise with orange. Experiment with different patterns as well. Love stripes like me? Pair a striped tee with a floral print midi skirt, or some cute polka dot shorts, like these ones here.

Invest in Key Wardrobe Pieces

There is a general rule we use to maximize our outfits: Invest in staple pieces that you know you will get a lot of mileage out of (denim, a fitted blazer, a great black dress, good quality tees, etc). These are items that you can wear during multiple seasons in several different ways. A great pair of skinny jeans go with just about everything. Good basics are great on their own in the summer, and then as layers in the fall. Then you can add in trendier, fun items to keep your look current and not boring.  Maybe it’s a killer pair of shoes, an amazing maxi dress, or even short denim overalls.  Don’t be afraid to examine what you have and try a new clothing combo, or branch out of your comfort zone a little bit!

Hopefully our little tips and tricks help you out of a wardrobe rut. And all of those basics and fun items we were talking about stocking up on? It’s about to be the perfect time, because the Nordstrom half yearly sale is right around the corner! Make sure to check the blog next week as we will have a huge round-up of our favorites for fall as well as summer staples on major sale!
