Crop Top with Cutouts

Crop Top Express Crisscross Crop Top | Skirt SheIn High Waist Pleated Skirt | Heels Badgley Mischka ‘Jeannie’ Open Toe Pump | Necklace Nadri Halo Pendant Necklace | Clutch Forever 21, old, very similar Here

I have a confession to make…this is the first crop top I’ve ever owned! In all honesty, I thought it wouldn’t look good on me, or that it was a trend I kinda scared to try. But, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and get this crisscross one from Express, I have to say I love it! I think the key to wearing a crop top is two things: that you are comfortable, and that you pair it with something that doesn’t end up showing too much skin. You don’t want a top that you feel like you are constantly pulling down, and with a high-waisted skirt you show just a sliver of skin and keep it classy. I especially love the cut out detail on the back.

This look is perfect for a date night out or a summer party or event. Keeps you cool, and you still look put together. This skirt is really flattering and not too heavy so it was perfect. It comes in several other colors too and is such a steal at under $20! It comes in a gorgeous white eyelet as well I might just have to get… I paired it with my favorite cobalt blue pumps for a  little pop of color and some sparkle.

Happy Wednesday!

An Engagement Story

Happy Wednesday! It’s been a while since you have heard from us…and that’s been mostly because of me. It’s been a little crazy since I got back from my trip to Italy…because I got engaged! It was very exciting, and it’s been a bit of a whirlwind with seeing friends and family, and starting to plan! We will be back in the swing of things soon and have lots of great stuff coming  your way, but I wanted to share my engagement story with all of you.

As some of you probably saw from an earlier post and also from my personal Instagram, Jeremiah and I went on a trip to Italy for 12 days. We stopped in Cinque Terre on the coast for two days, then headed to a villa outside Siena for a week, and finally ending our trip with a quick two days in Rome. It was the most amazing trip I have ever been on! The second day we were in Cinque Terre, we hiked the trail that runs between the five little villages, walked around eating pizza and gelato, and enjoyed the sunshine and breeze. It was seriously the most perfect day. The views were amazing, like looking at a postcard!

That night, we went to have dinner in an old fort turned restaurant on the point of the cliff in Vernazza. (pictured above) If you love mussels, you HAVE to make a trip here to get them. They are fresh out of the ocean and served in a huge frying pan right out of the kitchen. Best mussels I have ever had, hands down.

We had the most delicious handmade pasta and seafood dinner and of course a good bottle of Chianti. It was getting a little windy, so we went inside to have dessert. If you know me or my boyfriend (ahem, Fiance!), then you know we are sweets people and dessert is our favorite part of the meal. After tiramisu, I was telling Jeremiah what a perfect day we had, and he grabbed my left hand and told me he loved me and asked me to marry him! I did the most awkward laugh cry, and said yes. I was secretly hoping he would propose on this trip, but when he did it, it took me completely by surprise. BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! (so far!)

The next day we took a train from Cinque Terra to Siena to meet up at the Villa Jeremiah’s Mom had gotten for everyone. His parents, grandma, family friends, and my parents were all there, so we were able to share our special news with them. We spent the next week eating, drinking, and celebrating. It was honestly the best vacation I have ever had, and it was so special we were able to share with our families as well while we were there.

I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this guy…he is such a good guy and I just don’t know how I got so lucky! He seriously makes me a better person. I will be sharing more of my planning and tips along the way, so be sure to check back as I share my journey!

Top Travel Essentials

I am getting ready for a trip to Italy pretty soon. In fact, I leave next week! I have been waiting for this trip for it seems like forever {ok, maybe just 8 months}, but I can’t believe its right around the corner. We will be spending a few days in Cinque Terre on the coast, then going to a Villa near Sierra for a week, then ending the trip with a quick two days in Rome. I can’t wait to share more of my trip with you soon, but today I wanted to share my top travel necessities in case any of you are planning a trip this fall or over the holidays. Traveling {and flying especially} can dry your skin and hair out, and misplacing things are easy to do if you aren’t organized. Below are my top faves for staying prepared, organized, hydrated, and looking great while you travel!

travelitems

  1. Noise Cancelling Earphones | Whether it’s the constant dull hum of the plane noise or the kid three rows back screaming, all the ambient noise on planes can really mess with you. Keep your calm and block out all the noise with these noise-cancelling earphones. Lightweight and portable, they block out up to 90 % of background noise.
  2. Passport Cover | This genuine leather cover keeps your passport from getting bent or messed up. Plus its cute and comes in several different colors!
  3. Evian Face Mist | This water mist is perfect for re-hydrating skin after traveling. It cleanses and hydrates your face, which can get seriously dry from flying. It even helps keep makeup in place, doing double duty as a setting spray.
  4. Silk Scarf | I know what you are thinking…why a scarf? This is probably the most mutli-functional item you can have in your bag. Not only can it be used as just a regular scarf, but also works as a hair wrap, a shawl, or a beach cover up!
  5. Travel Jewelry Organizer | One thing I used to dread when traveling was opening up my bag and having to spend 10 minutes untangling all my jewelry. Not a problem anymore. This jewelry organizer has plenty of spots for your rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. Everything is kept organized and safe!
  6. Micellar Facial Wipes | Feeling a little gross after flying? These wipes remove makeup, grime, and oil in a pinch without drying your face.
  7. Tieks Foldable Flats | As much as I love heels, sometimes flats are necessary! It’s good to be prepared, and these flats fold up so that you can throw them in the smallest of purses. They are ultra comfy and you can basically take them anywhere.
  8. Portable Charger | Ever been down to 10% on your phone or laptop charger and somewhere to charge is no where to be found. It’s the worst feeling. With this little portable charger, you don’t ever have to worry about being disconnected ever again. This will give you a full charge on any device in a couple hours. Score!

Do you have any flying must-haves or items you can’t live without while traveling? Share with us in the comments below, we would love to hear from you!

Dress J. Crew Factory Printed Cami Dress | Necklace Banana Republic Curb Focal Necklace | Shoes Express, old, but similar Here and Here | Ring Loft Pave Ring, similar | Bracelet Loft Druzy Cuff, similar | Sunnies Ray Bans

A beach vacation does everyone good. I’m sure some of you saw last week on Instagram that I was at the beach for a little mini-vacation. My boyfriend and I met my family down at the beach for a couple days to relax and get some sun. We stayed at a cute little house that had this gorgeous long boardwalk across the sand dunes out to the beach. It was so nice to just enjoy the beach and sunny weather {and have a few drinks}. We were going out to dinner one night, so I brought this dress with me because it was perfect for the occasion.

Let me just go ahead and tell you; you need this dress in your life. It’s the most perfect summer dress. It’s safe to say I’m obsessed with floral patterns right now, and it just doesn’t get better than this coral and navy print. It also comes in the prettiest marigold color too. The fit is nice too: it is fitted through the bust and waist but flares out after that, creating a good shape. I’m kinda curvy and it looks good on me. And even better, it’s on sale right now at J.Crew Factory for under $50! I paired it with my favorite sandals that I got last season but I linked a couple other options, including an adorable fringed pair. My gold necklace was given to me by my boyfriend, but you can get the exact one linked above.

Did anyone else have a little mini-vacation lately? We would love to hear about it in the comments below or over on Instagram!

“Sundowner” in San Clemente

I’m sure you all saw on Instagram, but I made a quick little trip to San Clemente, CA last weekend. San Clemente is a cute, laid back beach town about a hour north of San Diego. We went to celebrate my boyfriend’s grandma’s 80th birthday. I know an 80th birthday might not sound like the most fun thing, but let me tell you a little bit about Grandma Kay. Y’all, I want to be her when I grow up. Seriously. She walks 5 miles everyday along the beach {at 80!}, and travels all over the world. She has been to six continents multiple times; she is probably the most well traveled person I know. And she throws a great party! Her favorite place to travel is Africa; her absolute favorite is safaris. So for her birthday, she threw a party that was “Sundowner” Safari themed. {Traditionally, after you get back from a Safari, you have a cocktail and watch the sun go down, hence the name.}. She picked the most amazing venue, Casa Romantica, located in downtown and overlooking the whole town as well as the beach. It is the most beautiful Spanish-style house that serves as a cultural center and gardens. This place is seriously gorgeous. Swoon.

I wanted to share my “Safari themed” outfit with you as well, since everyone was requested to dress as if they were going for a Sundowner. I wore these amazingly comfortable cropped jeans, a military vest, and a bright beaded necklace to complete the look.
