It’s Beginning to Feel a lot Like Christmas!

Happy Friday all!

Can you believe we’re only a little over 2 weeks away from Christmas? It’s been a mad dash to get my Christmas shopping done, but I’m just happy that it’s finally getting cold here in Georgia. And if you’re keeping up with the weather here, we were in a major drought, so the first sign of rain and I whipped out the Hunter boots! 🙂

There is no easier way to achieve the classic nautical look than with the essential striped pullover from L.L. Bean paired with Hunter boots. It’s an effortless and comfortable look that’s timeless and great for a busy day running around town. And the good news is, everything is on sale! Get this whole outfit for under $200.

3 Tips to Maximize your Wardrobe

Whether you live for shopping and all the latest trends, or you stick to your tried and true wardrobe, I can guarantee you have walked into your closet at some point and thought to yourself, “I have nothing to wear!”. Trust me, I do this all the time (much to the dismay of my husband who looks at me like I’m crazy). The key to looking great all the time and feeling confident is maximizing your wardrobe with what you already own. Cause let’s face it, we aren’t made of money, even though we wish we could go on endless shopping sprees. Today we are sharing our top three ways we try to maximize what’s in the closet currently, and ways to add key pieces in to make it go even further.

Switch it up

Bought a great pair of dress pants or pencil skirt for work? Think outside the box. You don’t just have to wear it during the day! Pair a pencil skirt with a sexy cami for cocktails with the girls, or take that blazer you invested in and wear it with cuffed jeans, booties, and a tee for a casual weekend look. One of the best ways to mix up an outfit is to pair it with different jewelry. A lot of times a statement necklace or earrings can make your look completely different. Shoes work similarly; have a bright pair of killer heels you never get to wear? Pair them with a neutral outfit to make them the star. Find some of our favorite statement pieces Here and Here.

Experiment with Color/Patterns

Do you have a couple pieces in your closet that you wear together all the time? Challenge yourself to take a pants and shirt combo you wear all the time and switch it up. Pair the top with a skirt or white jeans; pair your pants with a top you don’t normally wear all the time. No one says you can’t wear green with blush, or turquoise with orange. Experiment with different patterns as well. Love stripes like me? Pair a striped tee with a floral print midi skirt, or some cute polka dot shorts, like these ones here.

Invest in Key Wardrobe Pieces

There is a general rule we use to maximize our outfits: Invest in staple pieces that you know you will get a lot of mileage out of (denim, a fitted blazer, a great black dress, good quality tees, etc). These are items that you can wear during multiple seasons in several different ways. A great pair of skinny jeans go with just about everything. Good basics are great on their own in the summer, and then as layers in the fall. Then you can add in trendier, fun items to keep your look current and not boring.  Maybe it’s a killer pair of shoes, an amazing maxi dress, or even short denim overalls.  Don’t be afraid to examine what you have and try a new clothing combo, or branch out of your comfort zone a little bit!

Hopefully our little tips and tricks help you out of a wardrobe rut. And all of those basics and fun items we were talking about stocking up on? It’s about to be the perfect time, because the Nordstrom half yearly sale is right around the corner! Make sure to check the blog next week as we will have a huge round-up of our favorites for fall as well as summer staples on major sale!

Denim and Stripes

Happy Wednesday!

This look is a throwback from this past Friday. I’m not sure about you guys, but it was a super LONG week and we were sure so happy it was Friday so that we could go enjoy a much deserved girls night! My look was surprisingly light and cool. It’s the perfect office to evening look for these hot, humid days. I’m obsessed with this jean jacket, it’s so soft! This tee shirt dress from Old Navy is $24 and is so comfortable considering how dressy it still looks. Check out the links below for more details, happy shopping and enjoy the rest of your week! Share you looks with us and send them to us to feature on Instagram @_prettyinpeach_.

Friday Blue and White Striped Dress!

Happy Friday everyone,

Hope you all had a good week. We’re so happy it’s Friday, because there is so much in Atlanta going on this weekend. There is 420 fest, Beltline festivals, Taste of Marietta and so much more. Today’s look is perfect for outdoor festivals and weekend shopping. The dress is super comfortable and so are the shoes! (Suprisingly) See below for the links to this look.

This dress is the best! Not only does it come in 5 different colors/patterns, but the fit is so flattering and it is one of the most comfortable dresses I own. I think I found my new favorite. I love the bright stripes on this one, but it comes in a navy stripe, solid colors, and also a pretty feather print. It clings in all the right places, without showing too much off. Can you believe it’s only $20?!  I’m thinking about snatching up another one! Speaking of steals…let’s talk about these shoes. The lace up heel is so on trend right now, and you can get these for a fraction of the price of some of the other versions out there {and they come in black too}. I was worried I wouldn’t have much to wear these with, but they go with everything! So happy I bought them. Perfect casual spring look in my book!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

It’s been so hot in Atlanta lately…I feel like this is summer’s last push before it starts cooling off a little bit. I think the humidity finally went down this weekend too, even if just temporarily {my hair thanks you Mother Nature}. Even though it was hot this weekend when we shot some looks, this outfit kept me pretty cool.

I know black in summer seems kinda silly, but it can be done! Don’t do all black-and it helps to pair it with something lighter for some contrast. I paired my black skirt with a light tank from J. Crew Factory. Its such a soft thin material, it keeps you cool, while the A line skirt gives it a fun shape. This skirt comes in four colors and is such a great transition piece to take you into fall {I’m thinking about snatching up the deep orchid color}. I love the little neon pop in this tank too. My exact print on the stop is sold out, but they have another really cute print available as well as solid colors here. J. Crew Factory is always having sales, so make sure to keep an eye on their website for one of their flash sales! They just added a ton of new items to their clearance section too.

Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! Make sure to check out our Instagram to see more!

Summer Casual

casual1 casual2 casual3 casual4 casual5

When it’s super hot out {like it has been lately here in Atlanta}, you can usually find me in jean shorts, flip flops, and at Lake Lanier on the weekend. I love the easy casual-ness of it. I call it my weekend uniform. These shorts from American Eagle are the best-super flattering and hold their shape even after wearing them all day. And you really can’t go wrong with lace, am I right? This is one of my favorite tops; its feminine and delicate, while being super versatile. Since it’s been so hot, this top has been my best friend lately. For a little pattern pop, I added these striped flats. A pointed toe really helps elongate your legs {and let’s be real, my short self needs all the help I can get}. They are comfy and basically a knockoff version of some more expensive striped flats out there right now. These flats are totally one of those impulse things you walk out of Target saying to yourself “Do I really need this?” Don’t lie to yourself, it’s pretty much impossible to go into Target and walk out with only one thing…at least it is for me. But these flats have been a solid purchase and I can say, yes, I did need these. Ok, wanted these.

How great is this bag? It’s the perfect weekend tote to throw a couple things in, whether your out on the lake or bopping around town. It’s even better that its’s on sale for under $25! It’s been my new go to bag on the weekend. Plus it’s pink and printed. Sold.
